Mostly, you don't notice it because you're brain only processes the info into your consciousness if it's something it deems important, such as, brake lights from the car in front of you when you're texting your friend about the last Dexter episode while travelling at 75 MPH. Or, perhaps, when you're concentrating on falling into bed while simultaneously taking off your shoes and your eye spots the spider on the wall. Sixth sense? Who knows, it's possible.
